By nature, educators have always needed to be flexible and adaptable. We see this when teachers need to adjust a lesson that was seemingly effective the year prior. Or when teachers need to differentiate instruction on the fly in a classroom. Or as a school leader, entering the school each morning preparing for the unexpected to happen. So, when we now see how teachers and school leaders are adjusting to this sudden “new normal,” those that work with these practitioners aren’t surprised to see their flexibility and adaptability in action once again…even during these unprecedented times.
We also have had to adjust how we support teachers and leaders. Specifically, in an effort to support educators of multilingual learners, we are expanding our menu of support services and professional learning opportunities for schools and districts.

The WIDA School Improvement System (WIDA SIS)
- School-wide needs-assessment and progress monitoring system to enhance teaching and learning for multilingual learners.
- Begins with a multi-source survey that can be taken from anywhere with an internet connection.
- Produces immediate action-oriented data through an online reporting system for school and district leaders.

- Wide range of professional learning topics and formats to meet the needs of educators who work with multilingual learners.
- Locally Hosted professional learning offerings are available based on needs and are designed for individuals or small groups of educators.

The Leadership for Learning (L4L) Coaching Process
- Combines practical data and customized support.
- To leverage WIDA SIS data, L4L coaches work with school leaders to identify practices, processes, and routines that present opportunities for growth.
- Supports school leaders to develop action steps for improvement
