EdLeader21 has developed a thorough process for their members based on their trademark 4Cs Rubrics: The 3-Year Roadmap. The Roadmap is a 3-year process for implementing the 4Cs and is aligned to EdLeader21's 7 Steps for Education Leaders. 

CALL as a Resource

One of the resources offered in Year 3 of the Roadmap is the Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL). The CALL system assesses key instructional and leadership practices that occur across a school and/or district. School and district leaders use CALL as a formative assessment to support year-to-year progress. The standard version of CALL is a research-validated instrument, developed at the University of Wisconsin. In addition, the CALL Team works with schools and districts to customize CALL tools to meet their specific needs. 

Using CALL Within the Roadmap Process

School and district leaders engaging in the 3-year Roadmap process have the opportunity to use CALL to support ongoing professional growth and school improvement planning. CALL is listed as a resource in Year 3, Step 4: Build Professional Capacity. By implementing the CALL system, school and district leaders can measure the effectiveness of the instructional and leadership practices that have been the focus during the course of the roadmap process. The CALL system provides timely feedback and action-based data to support continuous improvement.

Customized CALL Services

The standard version of CALL has been implemented by hundreds of schools across the country. However, the CALL Team also works with districts and other organizations by providing customized services, such as:

1. Developing unique items to measure the specific context. In this case, the items would reflect the work carried out during the 3-Year Roadmap process.
2. Aligning the CALL constructs to an existing framework. As a result, users can view their data according to the dimensions with which they are more familiar or have been utilizing.
3. Providing ongoing support to school and district leaders to analyze the action-based data and develop a plan of action.
